Appointment with a doctor I’d never seen – his office person taking information, said, “You’re retired?” I said, “That’s a lovely way of putting it.”
Beats ill-functional; disabled; Lyme-racked.
Who knew that LOOKING old enough to be retired would soothe my soul!?
Welcome to the club. When I left paid work 10(?) years ago, people started saying I was retired. Sounds better than unable-to-work-due-to-neurological-disease. It only I was eligible for/able to enjoy the perks of retirement.
